Surrounded by the mountains of the Sierra de Tramuntana , Deià, is made complete by the enchanting antique church sitting on its hill, reaching out to the valley below with its system of irrigation built in Arabian times. The first impression is of sublimity as the person that sees it for the first time is captured and hypnotized by the natural beauty of the surroundings and its marvellous terraces. Within its boundaries one can get pleasure from a beautiful little cove. It is possible to get to the cove by car, but it is much better to get there by going down a pathway so as to appreciate the singular beauty of the surroundings 'Sa foradada' is a rock wall next to the sea with the peculiarity of having a hole in it, you can see it on the way to the village of Sóller, which is a popular tourist attraction owing to its impacting beauty.

Impressions
The local people of the village are more than accustomed to the foreigners or 'estrangers' and 'forasters', as they are known in the local native language and the difference between them is always there but diminishing constantly. Deiá has been a refuge for artists, musicians and writers since the beginning of the XX century, many of them having their own home in or around the village. Just to mention one of these well-known artists, Robert Graves, the British writer the author of 'I Claudius', who now rests in peace in the impressive local cemetery at the side of the church in the most elevated part of the village.
